An insightful conversation with Andreas Matthidis


During my stay at Apollo Blue Hotel, I had the privilege of conducting a video interview with Mr. Andreas Matthidis DipWSET, the driving force behind these exceptional events. Mr. Matthidis, a distinguished sommelier and president of the Panhellenic Association of Sommeliers, shared insights into the philosophy behind the 'Food & Wine Pairing Degustation Events' and the vision of Apollo Hotels in promoting Greek wines and cuisine. A glimpse into the events

The 'Food & Wine Pairing Degustation Events' are a tradition at Apollo Hotels since 2019, and their popularity has only grown over the years. The 2023 programme features a series of events that take participants on a sensorial journey through some of Greece's finest wine regions. The past events featured the following wineries:

Each event features the expertise of the world-class brigade of Apollo Blue Hotel's chefs - Head Chef George Kampourakis, Chef à la carte Nikos Karavakis, and Pastry Chef Michalis Chrysovergis. Their creative brilliance was showcased in the dishes they crafted, meticulously designed to complement and elevate the flavours of the wines being presented.








On the event that took place on August 10, 2023 the focus was on creating dishes around the wines from Novus Winery from Mantinia region in Peloponnese, Greece.
